Your longevity potential refers to how long you will live according to your genetics, assuming that you don’t die from a disease or an accident. It is something that you inherit from your maternal side. It is contained in the ovum, and fraternal genetics have nothing to do with it. Look to how long-lived your mother, grandmother, and great grandmother lived and you will have some idea of what king of longevity you inherited.
However, for the most part longevity genetics do not determine how long a person will live, because in the majority of cases people die from a disease long before they have had the opportunity to die form old age.
In pursuing an anti aging program, we are altering the rate of aging in order to maximize your longevity potential, but all of this will obviously be in vain if you get sick and die from some disease. So a large part of any comprehensive program to extend the length and qualtity of your life will have to focus on the idea of disease prevention.
- Think of your fortieth birthday as a good point in life to see a preventative doctor for baseline studies. Give yourself a birthday present in the form of a baseline evaluation. This evaluation should include Bio-Energy Testing™ and the other important tests mentioned throughout my book, "Bursting With Energy". The results of these studies on your health status at forty can be used as a base against which to compare your physiologic functions in later years as you age and embark on an anti-aging program.
