Hi, my name is Taylor and I live in Chicago, Illinois. I am 10 ½ years old and I am in the 5th grade. I was diagnosed with JDM at age 6. I see Dr. Pachman in Chicago and she keeps me healthy on my meds. This year I flared after being in remission for two whole years. I take all the meds I see everyone else take, but I must say these steroids are not good on my figure. I know what it feels like to feel good and know that hopefully soon I’ll get to take less medicine again and enjoy things a little more. I’m a little different because I also have another auto immune disease Vitiligo which makes my color go away in various spots of my body. The sun is not good for either disease. I get teased a lot because of weight gain and my skin, but my mom helps me to remember I’m just as good as anyone else.
