Katie was diagnosed at age 7 after a rash on her elbows and knees raised an eyebrow with the dermatologist. Dermatomyositis was suspected, and Katie was sent directly to Children's Hospital in Boston. After more lab tests and an MRI to show muscle inflammation, Katie was diagnosed with the disease. That was 5 years ago. At age 11 Katie was declared in Remission. Less than one month later after a sunburn, her JDMS came back full force, and we again are back on meds fighting the good fight. We are very proud of Katie for battling this disease and doing her best, hoping for remission once again.
