In 2000, at the age of 21, I developed muscle weakness and some strange lumps and bumps. After hearing diagnoses such as Lupus, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and Dermatomyositis, I have been more definitively diagnosed with JDM. My muscle weakness being comparatively mild, it's possible that I had even milder symptoms as a teenager. My calcium deposits, however, have not been mild and my struggle with them is ongoing. Recently starting Diltiazem therapy, I am hoping to see an improvement in the coming months.
