Hi, my name is Cassandra. I am 13 years old and I was diagnosed finally on Oct 28,2011 at All Children's Hospital in St. Pete, FL. I am pretty sure that I have had this all of my life, but the rheumatologist that we were seeing for almost 10 years did not know anything about JDM. We are now seeing a different rheumatologist at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. I have the rashes on the face, around the eyes and on my cheeks pretty much all of the time, it is very rare when I don't have these rashes. I get the pitting on y nails and nailbeds and the rash across my knuckles. I also get rashes on just about every part of my body. I am in a lot of pain all of the time. My longest stretch without pain has been 21 days. There are days when I have to use my walker or my wheelchair because the pain is so intense. I have seen many dermatologists regarding my rashes and I have been given lots of different creams to apply. I also have JRA to go with my JDM, so I swell like crazy. I just started to receive infusions on Jan 10, 2012 and I am praying that it starts to work some. Please pray for a CURE!
