Brookelyn was diagnosed March 12th of this year with Juvenile Dermatomyositis. We actually had gone to see a Pediatric Rhematologist because we were told she had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. What a surprise we were in for...she ended up being admitted to the hospital that day and was there for 4 days. She had not been able to walk much, get in and out of bed, climb stairs, get into the van or even use the bathroom alone! She is 4 years old and had given up many activities that she has always loved such as bowling, skating and ballet. She is now getting treatment and has made many improvements although we still have a way to go. It seems getting the correct diagnosis is half the battle though, so we are hopeful that she will continue to improve!
